If there were any doubts that we are under one-party rule, the Democrats just made it perfectly clear by deciding that Obamacare will be pushed over the final legislative hurdle without a formal House-Senate conference committee. Not only does this exclude all Republicans from the process, it keeps all negotiations behind closed doors and avoids any pesky public debate and politically damaging procedural votes. The goal is obviously to get the multi-trillion dollar deficit buster to the president's desk for signature before his State of The Union Address early next month. After his horrendous year of failed policies and plummeting approval ratings, Mr. Obama and his congressional cronies need that moment of apparent success even if it's all a con game that will do more harm than good once it goes into effect.
On the upside, this procedural action will make it easier for even the most casual observers in the electorate to grasp that this legislation is of the Democrats, for the Democrats and by the Democrats currently in power and they will own the results. They will not be able to spin, finger point or word parse their way out of responsibility for this legislation when it turns out to be the oppressive, restrictive and obscenely expensive government power grab it is instead of the reform the president and his accomplices claim.
