Don't Worry, Denmark's On Our Side

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. It was true in Shakespeare's Hamlet and it seems to be true now as that lovely little country on the Baltic Sea has scored a liberal hat trick in the past two weeks. First there was the Copenhagen Climate Summit, officially the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference, which allowed the Danish capital to host the movers and shakers of the hoax known as human-caused climate change. Next came Politiken, the second largest newspaper in Denmark, with their editorial claiming President Barack Obama is greater than Jesus. Here's an excerpt:

Today, [Obama's] historic Health Reform is being passed through the American Senate - a welfare policy breakthrough that several of his predecessors have been unable to manage.
Despite all the compromises, it has finally been possible to ensure something so fundamental, as the right of every American not to be financially shipwrecked when their health fails them. Add to that the biggest ever financial support package in America’s history, a major disarmament agreement and the quickest-ever re-establishment of American reputation.
On the other hand, we have Jesus' miracles that everyone still remembers, but which only benefitted a few. At the same time, we have the wonderful parables about his life and deeds that we know from the New Testament, but which have been interpreted so differently over the past 2000 years that it is impossible to give an unequivocal result of his work.
Obama is, of course, greater than Jesus – if we have to play that absurd Christmas game. But it is probably more meaningful to insist that with today’s domestic triumph, that he has already assured himself a place in the history books - a space he has good chances of expanding considerably in coming years. And then there's the third liberal score of the fortnight, the head of Denmark's intelligence agency announced today that police shot a Somali man wielding an axe and a knife as he tried to break into the home of an artist who outraged the Muslim world by drawing a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad with a bomb-shaped turban. What's so liberal about that? While the announcement boldly identified the cartoonist/intended victim by name and even went so far as to say that the man's five year old granddaughter was in the home at the time of the attack, the suspect's name was not released in keeping with Danish privacy rules. By all means, let's protect the axe and knife wielding terrorist while simultaneously reminding his fellow terrorists who his target was and that he was still available for future attempts. I'm sure the little tidbit that a granddaughter might also be nearby for the next attempt will sweeten the ideological pot for them too. According to authorities, the terrorist - oops sorry, "the suspect" - was shot in a knee and a hand and his life was not in danger. As such big fans of Mr. Obama, I'm sure that suspect will be getting his day in Danish civilian court soon.
