Senate Democrats Like Thieves In The Night

Like all accomplished thieves, Senate Democrats will be working in the dead of night to shove Obamacare over the next hurdle. David Axelrod, a senior adviser to President Obama actually had the gall to say, "I think the American people are entitled to a vote." But evidently we are not entitled to a vote during a time any of us are paying attention. The next vote is scheduled for 1:00am Monday morning and the final Senate vote on this hugely unpopular legislation is scheduled for Christmas Eve.

Can't you just imagine every citizen gathered with family and friends around the TV on Christmas Eve; CSPAN trumpeting the news? Neither can the Democrats which is why they want to vote for this legislative disaster when no one's looking. Even Senator Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) who has been the most moderate of Republicans on this issue said the bill was being pushed through without a chance for meaningful debate or change. She said the "beat the clock" approach "is really overruling legislative sanity." (source)
But hurry they must or the American people might realize that this health care reform bill has very little to do with health care and everything to do with a massive power grab on the part of the federal government. The government intrusion into the lives of all Americans will grow exponentially and the cost will be immeasurable in both dollars and freedoms.
Luckily we'll be able to return this particular Christmas gift in November, 2010 and exchange it for real reform and some of that legislative sanity.
