House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Maryland) admitted today that Democrats don't have the 218 votes needed to pass the $1.2 trillion health care reform legislation commonly known as Obamacare. The vote was scheduled for Saturday but Democrats are now acknowledging it may be pushed back. (source) Why the delay? It seems many Democrats in the House aren't as stupid as their leadership thinks they are.

Tuesday's Republican victories in the gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey were not misinterpreted by many Democratic members of Congress as they seem to have been by their leadership. The American people voted strongly against the tax and spend liberalism that is the Obama agenda and there is every indication they will continue to vote against it in the 2010 elections.
Over in the Senate, many are waiting for the Congressional Budget Office to report the actual cost of the health care reform bill Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) wrote in consultation with the White House. That vote could be delayed until next year.
The brief opportunity for President Obama and his cronies to ram these obscenely expensive and ultimately ineffective programs down the throats of the American people is gone. Either because they are honestly willing to represent their constituents' interests or simply out of their own selfish desire to be re-elected, Democrats in both the House and Senate are standing up to their ultra liberal leadership and are saying no to the remaking of America.
