The message from the voters was clear as Republicans took the Governor's mansion in both Virginia and New Jersey; two states which only a year ago voted to put Barack Obama in the Oval Office. Voters said a resounding no to Democrats and the Obama message in these two pivotal elections; results that will almost certainly sway many moderate Democrats in Congress from supporting the president's far left agenda.

In Virginia, Republican Bob McDonnell not only beat Democrat Creigh Deeds, he beat him in a landslide with an 18% margin of victory. In a "purple" state that Mr. Obama won last year by 6%, that's a startling turnaround. Mr. Deeds' tax and spend platform and campaign material covered in images of President Obama were resoundly rejected by the people of Virginia in favor of Mr. McDonnell's fiscally conservative message.
In an even bigger loss for Team Obama in the formerly true blue state of New Jersey, Republican Chris Christie soundly defeated incumbent Governor Jon Corzine. President Obama won the state just a year ago by a whopping 16% and the president had invested significant political capital in the race. According to the mainstream media, the election was supposed to be "too close to call" and there was even talk of the probability of recounts based on recent "dead heat" polls. But in the poll that matters, the people of New Jersey made a clear choice and elected Mr. Christie by a margin of approximately 5%.
No doubt President Obama and his co-conspirators will try to minimize the importance of these elections. Just as they did regarding health care reform, they will ignore the voices of the American people and continue their attempts to force their unwanted agenda on the country. Fortunately for the country, they can't ignore the people's votes.
