Yes he did. Right there on national television conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said President Barack Obama is a narcissist who is immature, inexperienced and in over his head. Appearing on Fox News Sunday Mr. Limbaugh said Mr. Obama "really has no experience running anything. He's very young. I think he's got an out-of-this-world ego. He's very narcissistic." (source)

In response, senior White House adviser David Axelrod said, "It's a surreal day when you're getting lectures on humility from Rush Limbaugh." But humility is not the opposite of narcissism; reality is. It's a common misconception that narcissism and conceit are synonymous but they are not. While they have certain traits in common (i.e. believing you're better than others, excessively bragging about your accomplishments); according to the Mayo Clinic, narcissists also display such symptoms as:
- Exaggerating their achievements or talents
- Expecting constant praise and admiration
- Expecting others to go along with their ideas and plans
- Setting unrealistic goals
- Being easily hurt when criticized
Sound like any former community organizer you know? I'm sure historians (and mental health professionals) will write volumes for decades to come on the case study that is Barack Obama. But for now, we the people are left wondering what affect this man can and will have on our lives and our liberties.
In this morning's interview Mr. Limbaugh said predicted a revolt against the Democratic Party and Obama in the 2010 midterm elections. For the sake of the country, I hope he's as right about that as he is about the president's personality disorder.
