White House senior advisor David Axelrod appeared on ABC's This Week and echoed recent statements by White House communications director Anita Dunn claiming that the Fox News Channel is "not really a news station". (source) This latest strategy to minimize the only news outlet that reports objectively on President Obama and his policies will prove to be yet another bad decision on the part of this president.

Mr. Obama himself pretends to be above this particular fray by simply referring to "cable news" as an object of ridicule but everyone who is paying attention knows he is attacking Fox News. Even liberal journalists see what the president and his cronies are attempting to do and they're not as pleased as some might think they would be:

John Nichols wrote a piece in The Nation appropriately titled "Whiner-in-Chief" and stating "The Obama administration really needs to get over itself." and "Presidents are supposed to rise above their own partisanship and engage with a wide range of media - even outlets that are hard on their administrations." (source)

It's nothing new for an administration to have an adversarial relationship with the press. In fact it would be difficult for such a relationship to remain amicable every day for four years since the job of the press is to ask the tough questions and report the truth even when the administration is not successful. The fact that the Obama administration is so angry with only one news outlet sends the clear message that that's the only outlet currently doing its job.

As the current administration continues to make the wrong choices on both domestic and foreign policy issues, most of the other media outlets will have to abandon their pro-Obama agendas or face even lower numbers of viewers/readers. I believe they will try to save themselves and return to actually reporting the facts. What will Mr. Obama and his accomplices do then?
