Obama Allies Are Jumping Off The Bandwagon

Two days ago it was the insurance companies. Now it's the labor unions. It seems President Obama's co-conspirators who jumped on board Obamacare are jumping off now that they know they were lied to all along. The latest reversal: 30 labor unions ran a full-page ad in newspapers today announcing their opposition to the Baucus bill. Specifically they cite the bill's lack of a publicly run insurance plan and the inclusion of a tax on the expensive policies such as those provided to union members. (source)

Obama's inability to deliver on his promises is alienating special interest group after special interest group. Those who voted for him in exchange for promises regarding issues such as health care reform, gay rights, changes in military policy and any number of other liberal ideals are finding out he can't or won't keep those promises now that they've given him the power to do so.
Meanwhile the liberal mainstream media is trying to prop up Mr. Obama's failing administration by heralding Senator Susan Collins' (R-Maine) comments on Obamacare as bringing the president a step "closer to a historic achievement that has eluded generations of Democratic leaders". (source) Far from bipartisan support, Ms. Collins' general comments in favor of some kind of health care reform included the statement that the Baucus bill "needs substantial additional work". That's hardly a ringing endorsement.
Yet the administration and the complicit media will continue to act as if getting the Baucus bill passed by the Senate Finance Committee was some kind of remarkable achievement. Considering the partisan makeup of the committee, getting the bill passes was like getting a dog to bark in a kennel. With his former allies very publicly turning against his plan and more and more American people waking up to the true cost of it all, President Obama will have a much tougher time with the next part of the process.
