Curb Your Enthusiasm Or You're A Racist Assassin

In the past two days, two prominent Democrats have attempted to stifle the speech of Americans who dare to disagree with the policies of the Obama administration. Rather than defend the policies themselves, they claim anyone who criticizes things like Obamacare are either racists or teetering on the edge of committing violent acts.

In an interview on NBC Nightly News, Former President Jimmy Carter said, "I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African-American." (source) What Mr. Carter fails to accept is that intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Obama is actually based on his far left ideology, his over-the-top spending, huge increases to the deficit and his stated desire to redistribute wealth. A large segment of the American people would be intensely demonstrating against Mr. Obama if his skin were any color including green with purple polka dots.
Then there's Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi who had the nerve to compare disagreement with nationalized health care to an anti-gay political assassination that occurred over 30 years ago. While answering a question about the protests against President Obama's health care proposals, Ms. Pelosi said, "“I have concerns about some of the language that is being used because I saw...I saw this myself in the late '70s in San Francisco. This kind of rhetoric is just, is really frightening and it created a climate in which we, violence took place and...I wish that we would all, again, curb our enthusiasm in some of the statements that are made." Representative Pete Sessions (R-Texas) responded to Ms. Pelosi's comments by saying "The Speaker is now likening genuine opposition to assassination. Such insulting rhetoric not only undermines the credibility of her office, but it underscores the desperate attempt by her party to divert attention away from a failing agenda." (source)
Desperate and failing are certainly the right words to describe the Democrats current political situation and the status of Obamacare. Yet their party leaders continue to attack the American people for simply voicing their opinions and to brand them as potentially violent racists because they dare to disagree with the administration.
