ACORN's usual defense (it's just a few rogue employees) is becoming more laughable by the day. Widespread voter fraud in the 2008 election wasn't enough to prevent the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now from receiving millions of taxpayer dollars. In Baltimore and Washington D.C. ACORN employees were caught on tape offering suggestions to two activists posing as a pimp and prostitute on how to launder money and get a mortgage for a brothel. And now employees at the Brooklyn office of ACORN have also fallen for the hidden-camera sting operation. (source)

The employees in Baltimore and DC were fired almost immediately after the video tapes of them were released and the Census Bureau did sever its ties with the group whose members had been hired to do canvassing during the 2010 census. But still no action on stopping the flow of cash from the federal government to this obviously corrupt and possibly illegal group. And President Obama, who has a long and extensive relationship with ACORN, has yet to say a word publicly on the latest scandals.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg spoke about the alleged wrongdoing at ACORN's Brooklyn office today but only mildly saying, "Prostitution is illegal in this state and I don't know why they would -- why an organization like ACORN, who's trying to encourage voter turnout and voter registration, why they're getting involved in any of that stuff," Bloomberg said. "But clearly it's not appropriate and they shouldn't have been doing it. Whether they broke a law or not I don't know. You'll have to talk to the legal (authorities)." (source)

A growing number of Republican lawmakers are calling for congressional hearings and IRS audits of ACORN. (source) But with the current make up of Congress that seems unlikely to happen without the approval of the White House. How far does this organization have to go before those in power will condemn them as the corrupt enterprise they obviously are and stop funding their illegal practices?
