Obama To Address All Public School Students

When I read that on September 8 President Barack Obama would be addressing all PreK-12 students via televisions in all public schools across the nation, I thought this had to be one of those far-right fringe, conspiracy theorist rumors that couldn't possibly be true. Unfortunately, I was wrong. A letter from Secretary of Education Arne Duncan to School Principals about the event is clearly posted on the US Department of Education website outlining details of the speech and providing resources for discussing it afterwards and engaging students in follow-up activities. Example: Students could discuss their responses to questions such as "What do you think the President wants us to do?" (source)
Continued...
The letter also affirms that this is something no sitting president has ever done and it is something no sitting president should ever do. Political leaders beaming messages tailored to children into the classroom reeks of indoctrination and is something one would only expect in fascist dictatorships. While I doubt anything in this first address to the nation's school children will be controversial (it is supposedly on the value of education), it is a giant step toward the federal government invading another aspect of our lives...and our children's lives. How long until the "Beloved Leader" sing-along will become mandatory in every classroom? How long until third graders come home and lecture their parents on the political ideology they learned in class that day? How long until children are brainwashed into choosing their daily activities based on the question "What do you think the President wants us to do?"
This speech is the start of another "community organizing" project by President Obama and his far-left cronies. But this community is our nation's children and they are being organized against their will and the will of their parents. While the mainstream media remains relatively mum on this issue, a movement has begun to boycott the event by keeping children home from school on September 8. (source) Have we actually reached the point where in order to protect a child from political indoctrination, we must deprive that child of a day of education?
