Power To The Fishies!

The Obama administration is asking for your help! On an official White House blog, President Obama's Director of New Media Macon Phillips asked those who see an email or website that seems "fishy" to send it to a White House e-mail address. (source) I can only imagine the deafening outcry if any other administration had publicly encouraged American citizens to alert the government regarding any "fishy" speech.
Continued...
Mr. Phillips claims the reason for this request is "There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there...Since we can't keep track of all of them here at the White House, we're asking for your help." I don't know what would be worse:
The United States government not being able to "keep up" with the flow of information,
The United States government asking citizens to inform on other citizens based on what they say, or worst of all,
The United States government thinking we're stupid enough to believe this is about keeping track of disinformation.
It is obvious that the purpose of the administration's request for "help" is to further foster the Us vs. Them mentality within the American population; marginalizing those who disagree with the President's policies and making his supporters feel like they are part of the inner circle. Unwilling to accept the fact that more than half the country does not approve of Obamacare, the president and his cronies are trying to dismiss dissenting opinion as "mob activity straight from the playbook of high-level Republican political operatives." That quote comes directly from a new Democratic National Committee video entitled "Enough of the Mob". (source) Yes, these are the same people who just months ago were calling protests organized by ACORN, ANSWER and Code Pink the highest form of patriotism.
But now anyone who dares to speak against the administration is called a member of the mob, fishy and a dupe motivated by manufactured anger. A bit more creative than "Vast Rightwing Conspiracy" but still the same old song. Liberals are again getting frustrated by the fact that most Americans aren't falling for their con games and lies. Some even have the courage to stand up and make their voices heard. Power to the fishies!
