Another Blue State Senator Is Losing His Grip On Power

Senator Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut) is another Democrat working hard to turn his blue state red in 2010. Despite repeated denials that he knew he was getting a sweetheart deal from mortgage giant Countrywide (who went on to lose billions on home loans to credit-strapped borrowers), the official who handled his loans told Congress that Dodd got VIP discounts from the lender. (source) Ironically, Dodd's position as head of the Banking Committee gave him the job of solving the housing foreclosure and financial crises and the irony hasn't been lost on voters in his home state where the five-term senator is trailing Republican Rob Simmons 48-39 percent in the latest poll.
