President Obama has challenged Congress to bring him a health care reform bill before the August Congressional recess. He has pushed for confirmation of his Supreme Court nominee by that same August recess. And now he has vowed to spend federal money even faster than he has been in an attempt to save or create jobs. So why the rush? Why the frantic pace to take any action quickly instead of taking the time to make sure they are the best actions to take? As the economy continues to bleed jobs, the prison at Guantanamo remains open, Don't Ask Don't Tell is still the law of the land and our enemies seem to be laughing at his diplomatic efforts could the president simply be desperate for a win? Unable to keep his campaign promises, Mr. Obama is losing some of that famous cool, pushing one new idea after another and none of them seem to be working for the country.
And he has just about run out of time to blame President Bush (or President Clinton or President Roosevelt or President Washington). Even his base is starting to tire of his Oh-poor-me-I-inherited-this-bad-economy stance and all but the most far-left radicals are fed up with his Blame-America-First foreign policy.
So he's becoming the whirling dervish of administrators: Do this! Do that! Do it fast! Do it now! No, do the other thing! Just do something - anything!
We've all known people like that; people who are so out of their element, so in over their heads that they abandon deliberate steps toward success and start running in circles aiming for the appearance of working hard instead of the accomplishments achieved by actually working hard.
And now we have that kind of president. Someone who cares more about appearances than results. Someone who is quick to blame others rather than take responsibility. Someone who is rushing toward a worsening economic future and a weaker America and trying to take us all with him.
