Obama's New Economic Plan Will Be More Of The Same
By Carole on Sep 2, 2010 | Comment »
President Barack Obama will speak tomorrow on the August unemployment numbers (expected to be bad) and has scheduled two big speeches next week that will focus on the economy. In other words more false claims of recovery, more finger pointing, more threats of higher deficit spending and higher taxes and more empty promises.
Manchin Victory No Longer A Sure Thing

West Virginia Governor and US Senate candidate Joe Manchin (D) is downplaying the latest poll showing his lead over Republican businessman John Raese is down to just 6 points (48% - 42%). But even though he claims "We feel really good where we are, where we're going and the support we have by all sides, Democrats and Republicans," Mr. Manchin sounded a bit more realistic when he added, "The only thing I can do is hopefully show them if you work together, if you try to fix problems, good things will happen." (source) Unfortunately for him, that mushy, moderate, go-along-to-get-along attitude is exactly what voters are resoundly rejecting.
Republicans Up By 10 In Generic Ballot

The electoral tidal wave heading for Democrats in November is growing more powerful by the day. The latest bad news for Team Obama/Reid/Pelosi comes from Gallup in the form of its weekly generic ballot. Among registered voters, Republicans lead Democrats by 10 points (51% - 41%); the largest margin in Gallup's history of tracking the midterm generic ballot for Congress. (source) But Election Day could end even worse than that for Democratic candidates.
Crist Does It Again

For the third time in one week, Florida Governor and US Senate candidate Charlie Crist has taken two positions on the same issue. First it was whether he would have voted for Obamacare, then it was whether he will refund Republican donors' contributions since he is no longer a Republican and now it's whether he favors a Constitutional ban on gay marriage.
Crist Flip Flops Yet Again
By Carole on Aug 29, 2010 | Comment »
Florida Governor and US Senate candidate Charlie Crist is getting so good at changing positions on an issue, he can now do it within the same televised interview. Appearing on CNN's State of the Union program today, the no-party-affiliated candidate was asked if he would return campaign contributions given by Republican donors before he abandoned the GOP. Mr. Crist's first response: "we'll give it back to people who had asked for it." But just a moment later he said, "People gave money to a good cause, I'm going to spend it on a good cause and that's how I feel about it." (source)
